Speaking of fics…
Not working on any fanfic at the moment. The juju just isn’t there. Which makes me sad. I blame the meh-ness of Phase 4 lol. Just not inspired. Anyway…
I have been working on an original third part of a trilogy I started back in 2003/4. It originally started out as an *NSYNC trilogy, but I never finished the third part (the first one focused on Chris, the second on JC, and the third was supposed to be about Justin). I probably never wrote it bc I started really really really disliking Justin. lol
Anyway. I rewrote the other two into original fics so I decided earlier this year (before all the *NSYNC mania started again I swear lol) to start working on that third one. But I had a lot of rework to do with the other two. My writing has changed a lot since the early 2000s so I updated stuff.
I guess the point of this post is to humble brag that I actually wrote a whole entire scene today. I haven’t done that — with fandom fic, OG fic or otherwise — in a long time.
So yay me. :)

Best of 2023 Music #6: *NSYNC “Better Place”
Unexpected trilogies can bring unexpected results and surprises.
One of the biggest nobody saw coming when it came to Trolls 3, involved a bit of history being integrated into both the plot and reality.
Branch was unexpectedly revealed to have been part of a band with his four older brothers named BroZone. Of course creative differences in trying to make a family harmony would result in the classic break up trope we’ve seen many times before.
But at the wedding of Gristle and Bridgette band leader John Dory would come back into Branch’s life sending him Poppy and Tiny Diamond on a trip to save the other brothers from a pair of singers wanting to have their own musical experience.
The final scene would reveal one more secret as Branch was part of another group setting the stage for a reunion of the members of *NSYNC for the first time in 20 years.
And with this jam about ironically creating the perfect harmony we saw that Justin, Lance, Chris, JC, and Joey still have what we’ve seen before from them.
Time really does improve things.
SUM 22: The third Trolls film would unexpectedly bring back the members of NSYNC for a reunion and jam that served both the movie and reality quite well.

Finally settled down and all I gotta say is 3D is such bop. The adlibs and runs, the whispered singing, the beat, the high vocal tones make this 90s/early 00s boyband fan so happy. Gave me *NSYNC’s Girlfriend and O-Town’s We Fit Together vibes. The all-white outfit is so BSB’s I Want it That Way (I live through nostalgia and I’ve been going through it again)
But it’s all JK’s color and I absolutely love it! This man loves catchy songs; we already know he’s constantly humming the hook at any time of the day. And he’s doing things the way he exactly wants them done. Main pop boy indeed, and he’s always been open about how he wants to express himself this time.
All this to say that chapter 2 has been such an amazing journey of seeing how these men have come to embrace their strengths while also trying new things. j-hope being honest and daring with JITB and hobipalooza; Jin with that joyful, stadium-appropriate love song with his idol; RM’s artistic exploration and a performance for 200 fans; Jimin’s openness and showcasing of his dance skills and doing music shows; AgustD closing the trilogy with vulnerability and gratitude and a tour; V’s “fleeting tranquility” and chill, unique vibes and all the shows he did; and JK going mainstream with his pop sound and collaborations.
It’s amazing going from 1 unique sound composed of 7 individuals to 7 different frequencies and styles and musical visions. It’s so fun being a fan when you listen to what they have to say and just enjoy what they have to give.
Forever in awe of their love for music, for each other and their fans, and their incredible creativity and hard work. Thank you, bangtan 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

The Shrek trilogy unironically being an anthology of what pop culture was like in the late 90s and early 00s is so funny. They reference the OJ Simpsons chase, his white bronco, the show Cops, NSYNC/Justin Timberlake, LOTR… Someday some confused historian is going to use this funky movie to piece together what our current (or I guess at this point past) culture was like.

I’ll probably get roasted for this but I said what I said: I enjoyed pain hustlers way more than Oppenheimer.
I’m mad that the critics loved that damn movie and I’m a Nolan fan (the Dark knight trilogy was my fav for yearsssss) because man did it really let down for me.
I was also very excited for past lives and then was let down. and that one is another awards darling. As an Asian person, I am very happy that Asian directors and stories are getting more attention but…sometimes I feel it could be at the expense of just being a token. I felt that way about everything everywhere all at once too. Many of my Asian friends and my parents hated the film but just wanted to be happy for Michelle and Ke and Stephanie because we’ve constantly been overlooked for representation. But honestly?
There have been better stories told.
Of course, movies are subjective. Opinions vary.
But I really for some reason enjoyed pain hustlers. I think it’s because I like the director (David Yates) and all of the main cast, and I have a lot of interest in pharma and the opioid crisis. I just wanted it to be good - maybe I was too amped for it and it just fell short.
I think it’s a shame about PH because it could have been AMAZING if the storyline had just gone harder and farther and more bold. And if they hadn’t played it so safe. I was impressed by everyone’s performance. Chris was awesome and I feel very sorry that he’s so underused when it counts. I really hope the fandom lore that his PR team lurks tumblr IS actually true (imagine lol) and they will see this post and just help him steer himself into a better direction.
I enjoy all your posts and discussions on your blog. From your cookie jar, your stories you write, and just your comments about *NSYNC. You seem like such a fun person to be around! Thank you for this space!
I personally really enjoyed Pain Hustlers. Obviously there was some issues, just like with most movies, but Chris gave a solid performance!!
And you're right, opinions will vary. But I do feel like there seems to be a lot of people in agreement with you. So it's interesting to see more and more people talk about Oppenheimer was a bit of a let down.
I think one of the biggest issues with PH is it was late to the game of so many opioid crisis projects. They focused on being too stylized when I wanted to have more of a character piece. But I agree that they played it too safe.
Here's the thing, his team does lurk, I have no doubt about that. But what they take from it, I'm not sure. But there are so many that are rooting for him and his career I hope that they see some good observations.
Thank you for being here, anon! I love talking about this man and his projects. He's a fun actor, and I hope that my blog is only a tiny bit of a light in this too serious right now fandom!

Degrassi ships - djh or high era: jaitlin dtng era: sparcy, janny degrassi era: zaya and drianca

Bands - I love boy bands backstreet boys, big time rush, nsync, boyz 2 men, Hanson. I used to love maroon 5 as a teen but I'm not so much a fan of their newer material. I like my chemical romance, the killers, blink 182, no doubt, fall out boy, and i used to listen to panic at the disco in their early years. I really love classic rock bands such as journey, guns and roses, and queen. I love a variety. Just don't talk about country I don't listen to it period.

Deadpool 3 Spoilers
Absolutely great cinematic movie, probably my second fave intro from Deadpool trilogy because listen, Shoop is something I jam to regularly now. Has some great knock on jokes, several of which are poked at Disney for not usually having R-rated movies. Amazing song choices because now I'm gonna listen to two random throwback songs by NSYNC and Madonna on repeat while playing those scenes in my mind. Also Colossus canonically enjoying Great British Bake Off and Deadpool saying it's what kept him from suicide, peak script writing. Now I know the baking fanfics will be rolling out soon.
But....
No Cable :( and Josh Brolin would've wanted to be involved too! And you'd think they could work around it consider TVA (Time Variance Authority) was the major plot and guess what, Cable has a freaking time device?! They apparently didn't put him in because the movie was "Deadpool & Wolverine" - did ya'll forget about Captain America: Civil War; Avengers: Infinity War; Avengers: End Game ? Where you focused on multiple characters timeline of events, and not just two? Yes ? And because they weren't experiencing the events seperately, their whole plot was "It's difficult to stay together because we're both getting angry and fighting all the time" moments, which was what Deadpool 2 ended with?? No ??
And yes we did need a few more minutes with Colossus, we just got a teeny bit more insight to his character and then got snatched out of that.

Just posting some thoughts about the dead/po/ol and wol/ve/rine movie (i was gonna tag a post but it became too long and unrelated to the actual post which was about byebyebye nsync). It's not gonna be organized, maybe i'll organize them later whatever.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
i thought the movie was barely a movie rather a succession of cameos references and fight scenes. It felt really empty or shallow to me. (really makes you understand why in english film and movie are different terms tbh). And seeing people say it's a very good movie has me losing my mind fr
Not that i had a BAD time either. I got all the references since im a big stinky nerd. And i have a fascination for bad 00s superhero movies. They're delicious garbage to me. So I was amused by he cameos.
But GOD please im begin people to actually watch movies other than marvel ones
I say that as someone who started their cinematography classes almost only with those as a reference. And i was a bit snobbed by my cinemato professor so my point is not to be a snob. like yes sometimes it's fun I understand.
tho i wouldnt rewatch almost any mcu movie for pleasure. I still very much enjoy the guardians of the galaxy trilogy for example. But that's because they're literally better than the other mcu movie sorry i dont make the rules hihi. And x-men first class is one of my fav movie let's be real.
So yea sometimes it's fun but when it's monopolizing the industry and honestly harming it ....There should be less of those amusement park movies. Yessss ok im aligning with scorcese sorryyyy. Sorry im an old fart 😔.
And i know cinema started as a curiosity showcased in fairs and huh circus/carnivals etc. But that's also because it was new.
Anyway again not saying this as a snob like im better than you or whatever. I regurlarly watch disney channel original movies like they're the best things ive ever seen. So im not here for denying you your fun. Im here to tell you YOU DESERVE BETTER.
Now back on the movie itself : the music was nice. But can you go wrong with classic madonna and corny 00s boys band songs and grease ?
tbf i think the 1st deadpool movie is more crappy than funny and i liked the 2nd one. It had some funnies in it (and again big stinky nerd so i knew the new characters (mostly) and was happy to see them) But GOD is that humour 12 yo boy on 9gag in 2011. most of it at least. And fart jokes make me joke most of the time so you can imagine if im tired by the movie's humour. Like I love the Austin powers movie and im still saying that. (idk im trying to find examples of movies with crass humour tho it's not exactly the same kind of humour. And not all jokes make me laugh in Austin powers to be clear)
Weird villain choice for a movie which is at best anecdotic (do you say that in english ?). I used to read x-men comics with her in it cause my dad had them. But didnt understand shit cause i was literally 8. But she seemeed way to important and scary to be a deadpool movie variant villain ???? Feels like wasted potential.
Idk if it's skill issue from me but trying to sum up the movie to a friend was a hard task. And idk if it's because the movie is actually well very empty so when talking about it i immediatly talked about the cameos and references rather than the plot. Tho the overall plot is not that complicated, it's just not solid enough and nothing in the narration and filming helps (sorry lacking some cinematography terms in english)
The middle part is so long and mostly boring (except for the cameos) that i forgot what they were doing there at some point. Also very much my opinion, and i think the same for the 3 deadpool movies, but the humour really prevents me for caring about anything happening. Also love Wade saying he wants to save his timeline because his whole world is like 5 people that live in it. But we only see those people like 5 minutes, 10 minutes tops.
Also idk but i feel like this movie would be an ordeal to watch for someone who isnt temrinally ill with mcu disease and hasnt watched every single piece of mcu shit there is before watching this movie. (i mean I did ...watch almost everything...sooo uugh). Like this was another problem I had telling the story to my friend. She has watched A LOT of mcu and has been a big fan of it until like maybe 2 years ago when doctor strange mom came out (which was terrible you guys are insane for thinking this movie is good. twas a bit funny tho. but not comically bad enough for me to call it delicious garbage. I was a bit desappointed but i had expectations for billy and tommy lmao. I'll rewatch it one day). And she hasnt watched any mcu shows. NOW TO EXPLAIN THE TVA. Okay I simplified by saying they're a time patrol that "controls" and watch over all the timelines or something like that. But geeze. And if you havent watched all or some the old fow superhero movies, the cameos are meaningless to you (not my case I wish the human torch had stayed longer. I was obsessed with the fantastic 4 movie as a kid. delicious delicious garbage. My second obsession was the daredevil 2003 movie. I would have died if they'd manage to get Ben Affleck for this shit).
Like a youtuber I follow said, it's probably gonna become less enjoyable with each rewatch, like no way home (which i thought was very mediocre even when i 1st saw it with friends and was the only old killjoy saying it wasnt the masterpiece they said it was). Let's be real apart from the other spider-man participation, the movie is boring. And stupid. Mcu Steven Strange is a stupid old fuck and deserved to be demoted :) . And even the cameo moments have little pauses after made specially for cinema cheering. UUUGUHHGHGH. Like apart from that the movie is not solid enough for it to stay the same fun everytime we watch it. And the cinematography is like absent i believe. SOOOO YEAAA.
Oh yeah the joke about Hugh Jackman being forced to play wolverine until he's 90 and then the same week anouncing robert downey jr returning to the mcu as dr doom 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Anyway
Superheroe movies can be good and CINEMA, not just entertainment (i do believe cinema should also be entertaining actually BUT you get me). That's why Im annoyed at those movies. Like Of course I do believe a vast majority of comic books adaptations should be animated movies or shows. Like literally the best superhero movies are the incredibles and into the spiderverse. Undebatable. Then there's like The batman 2022 which is the only live action superhero movie i thought was good good. Oh yea and 2 or 3 x-men movies are nice I love them Im an x-men stan when xmen is good. (huh yes im a nolan batman trilogy hater, i fucking hate them, find them boring as hell and dull and fail to see how they are cinematographically interesting. Also responsable for bad opinions about batman since 2005. Doesnt feel anything like batman, like honeslty could just change the characters' name that's how much they dont feel like themselves. Feels like Nolan doesnt like batman, is ashamed of doing a batman/superhero movie. Realism my ass. Artistic direction I HAAAATE. I'll try watching it again sometime cause im desperatly trying to understand what people like in these movies)
Anyway that's it for now after this digression. If anyone read all that and wanna talk about it Im open.

It is when I see others degraded that I rejoice knowing it is better to be me than the scum of "the people". Whenever men are equal, without that difference, happiness cannot exist. So you wouldn't aid the humble, the unhappy. In all the world no voluptuousness flatters the senses more than social privilege. - Paolo Bonacelli. (from Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975). Directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Recently, I had to watch Pasolini’s Salò for a college essay. When I was younger, I always wanted to watch this film, mainly, because every website and film critic ranked this film as a top 5 most disturbing films of all time.
Pasolini did a wonderful job doing this adaptation of the Marquis de Sade’s 1904′s unfinished novel The 120 Days of Sodom. There was only one change he made while he adapted it: he translated the story from the time of the Marquis, to the time of WWII, when the fascist government of Mussolini allied with the Nazis.
He also did something very interesting, dividing the story in four segments inspired by Dante’s Inferno: the Anteinferno, la Girone delle Manie (Circle of Manias), la Girone della Merda (Circle of Shit) and la Girone del Sangue (Circle of Blood). Every segment succeeds in the test of surpassing it’s predecessor in terms of the disgustingess it causes in the viewer.
While many cinephiles may think that Pasolini maybe tried to somehow give the viewer a message about how dictators and the riches abuse their power in this society to their advantage (in this case, sexual advantage). But... nope. I don’t feel like Pasolini tried to do anything else than a faithful adaptation, word by word sometimes, of its source material.
And yeah, it is fucking disgusting.
Fun Fact: There’s a popular urban legend that says that Pasolini was murdered because of this film. But that’s not true. Pasolini was supposedly killed by a young male prostitute, who refused to have sex with him in Pasolini’s car, on a beach in Ostia, Italy. Pier Paolo was open to the world about him being a homosexual, and also a comunist. But, the real reason why he was murdered, and how it happened it’s... unknown to this day.
For my essay I had to read a very interesting text written by Pasolini himself, The “Cinema of Poetry”, from a book written by himself called Heretical Empiricism. I don’t think I fully understood it, but it was interesting to see how he compared language and his codes and tried to compare it to the codes of images, and how language had a structure you can follow when you want to create any sort of text, but images don’t have that structure to follow. At least that’s what I could partially understand. I strongly recommend you to read it.
The only weird thing about Pasolini, and something I still don’t understand, is how a film director with some heart-warming and luminous films like his “Trilogy of Life”, suddenly had a 360º degree swivel and decided to do a “Trilogy of Death”. Strange.
Well, now I just have to wait until December 21st, when my life will go back to normal and my dumb taste for comic book films can return into my life, when I’ll be finally able to watch Spiderman: No Way Home. Until then, as *NSYNC said: “Bye, Bye, Bye”. (*NSYNC, 2009)
